Abbotsford Supercross a great success!

The first Canadian Supercross race in Abbotsford is now in the books. The race action today was unbelievable with all the Canadian riders putting in a great effort and our Olympian Tory Nyhaug showing that he has what it takes to be a regular on the podium. A bit of bad luck in the final round resulted in a crash but Tory was up and racing for the fourth spot. Great show of sportsmanship at the end, we couldn't ask for a better ambassador for our sport. The Dutch riders ruled the day with Twan Van Gendt having enough first straight speed to stay out of trouble and win the mens side while Laura Smulders had luck go her way when a flying Felcia Stancil crashed while leading through the third straight. Congratulations to all riders and thanks to Cycling BC and all the volunteers for bringing this awesome event to Canada!

Supercross Time Trials were amazing!

Top riders from all over the world competed in the seeding time trials and then the top 8 women and top 16 men ran a second lap to determine the winner of the time trial super finals.  The skill and athleticism of these riders is nothing short of incredible.  Ridge alumni, Tory Nyhaug put in a great lap and ended up missing the top spot by only 2/100ths of a second. This is a rare opportunity to see riding at this level, do your best to make it out!

It was like a Supercross preview tonight

The warm up tonight was so cool! We had Elite riders from Norway, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and some of our local Elites all up on the gate with our club riders. What a great friendly bunch of athletes they were, we were thrilled to have them out and wish them all well in the Supercross race in Abbotsford.

The racing was as good as usual, 17 half trackers and 62 full track riders with mains in the 5 Novice, 6 Novice and the old guys cruiser classes. It is starting to get pretty dark and cooling down but that doesn't seem to be keeping our riders away.

Results posted and track points updated.

The winner of our raffle bike is...

Dawson Wood!

He is now the proud owner of the Academy Aspire BMX bike donated by our good friend Armand Ducharme from Urban Menace bikes. Thanks Armand and thank you to everyone that bought a ticket.

Near Perfect timing for the BC Cup Finals

We managed to get through the BC Cup Finals and almost the entire awards presentation before getting rained on, couldn't have asked for much better. The racing was great today, particularly the 16 Expert class with local rider Jared Ennis taking a nail biter of a main out of lane 7. The Dash for Cash after the regular racing produced some some really good motos as well and you could tell the younger riders really liked the idea of taking home some money!

Thanks to everyone that helped make this weekend a great experience for the riders.

The first of our BC Cup races is in the books and boy was it hot both on and off the track. There were some real nail biter motos and some awesome race action.

Thanks to the officials, volunteers, riders and parents for making the race a success. Special thanks to Alan Rodel for supplying nice cold Dasani water for all the riders, they needed it today.
